It is Veterans Day. If you served or are serving, thank you.
Earlier this year, I read a fantastic book by David Goggins called “Can’t Hurt Me“.
Goggins is a retired Navy SEAL and the ONLY member of the armed forces ever to complete SEAL training, Army Ranger School, and the Air Force Tactical Air Controller training.
But it didn’t start out all sunshine and lollipops.
His childhood was a nightmare; poverty, homelessness, physical abuse and overweight from a diet of 7-11 food.
But through self-discipline, mental toughness and hard work, he transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with NO future into a U.S. Armed Forces icon and one of the world’s top endurance athletes.
Oh… and he used to be the Guinness Book of World Record holder of 4030 pull-ups in 17 hours. Why would anyone want to do that?
In the book he reveals that most people only tap into 40% of our capabilities.
40%
His story shows a path that anyone can follow to push past pain, demolish fear and reach their full potential.
The subtitle of the book is “Master Your Mind and Defy The Odds”. And that is the rub. It is not our bodies holding us back but what we have stored in our noggin.
Baggage, crappy childhood, divorce(s), being poor, WHATEVER. It is only in our mind. There is no physical reason we can’t do something, only mental.
For example, if you wanted to bake a cake, but had never done it before, you might say to yourself, “But I am not a baker”. that is mental head trash.
There is no law, no brick wall, no physical reason why you could not bake a cake. Anyone can do it.
And if you wanted to break the record for pull-ups in 17 hours, ya just need 4031.
In yesterday’s Minnie Mouster Class about creating unlimited success, I revealed four principles that will get you from where you are to where you want to be. And due to a technical snafu which prevented about 50 people from attending, I am offering a replay.
