Legendary among writers, Dashiell Hammett was renowned for his hard-boiled characters, terse dialog, and classic one-liners. Hammett wrote such classics as “The Maltese Falcon” and “The Thin Man” – both acquired by Hollywood and turned into wonderful films.

Hammett once gave other writers this advice:
