A problematic representation of dwarfs

Snow White is a very old story.

Walt Disney created the movie in 1937-38 based off of a brothers Grimm story from 1857, who, rumor has it, used a story from the 1500’s as their basis. (Walt smartly deleted the scene where, the wicked queen summoned a huntsman and said to him, “Take Snow-White out into the woods. I never want to see her again. Kill her, and as proof that she is dead bring her lungs and her liver back to me.

I am thinking that if Walt left that Grimm scene in the movie, it would have a hard time supporting a “G” rating.

Fast forward from less woke times to today.

Disney is now making a “live screen” version of the movie with Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) on board as the villainous Evil Queen and “West Side Story” actress, Rachel Zegler, starring in the title role.

What could go wrong with the recreation of this seemingly timeless story?

Evidently, Peter Dinklage, The “Game of Thrones” Emmy winner, got his bloomers in a bunch and blasted the Disney remake during an interview, calling out the fairytale’s “Donald ducking backwards” depictions of dwarfs. (Dinklage used another adjective that rhymes with ducking)

Disney was a little less colorful in its language when they replied “To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community,” a spokesperson for Disney said in a statement to Variety.

Vance, What’s your point?

The Snow White story is hundreds of years old.

Yet it is repeated over and over, generation after generation.

The story never gets old.

The same goes for your story and marketing.

You may be tired of the story or ad.

You may be bored with them.

But your clients and prospects are not. Remember, there are billions of people that have never heard your story or seen your marketing.

Sure, maybe you need to change pieces and parts of the story based on your audience and demographic, but the core is the same.

If you have a marketing campaign that is working, why would you change it? You want to do MORE of it.

Yes, you want to try and improve it, but you are not going scrap the core story.

Remember, you won’t profit unless you implement,
