Wow!
What a week last week! I was in Orlando at Walt Disney World for 26 hours giving a private tour, had a 3 hour delay on the flight home, had my “Customer gettin'” Intensive Friday morning, and then my daughters lacrosse tournament over the Weekend in Virginia Beach, VA.
Shew!
The walking classroom tour went well. Until the 3 hour flight delay. Morons at American Airlines couldn’t even get their lies straight. One gate agent said flight was delayed due to Canadian wildfires, another said the plane was stuck in Miami due to storms and yet another said they were missing crew.
If you’re gonna lie, get your stories straight before you see the public.
But I don’t want to talk about Disney, airlines or my training intensive.
I want to tell you about the absolute “Class-Act” my daughters Lax coach is. Now this is a travel team, so there is a bunch of very competitive girls.
At last weeks tournament, we played against a rec team who had only been together 2 or 3 practices. We knew we could destroy them. But our coach told the team to go out there and run 3-4 plays before scoring.
He then told the girls to play with their non-dominant hand the whole game
He did that the entire game.
We ended up winning 11-0, but it could have been much worse. Our coach was not going to run up the score. The opponents coach even came over to thank our coach for it.
At a later game, another team only had 9 players. Instead of playing at full strength, he held one player off the field so the teams were evenly matched.
During the last game Saturday, the opponents goalie was missing a piece of equipment. But the game had to start, there was no waiting. So our goalie’s mother went to her car to lend the other teams goalie her equipment.
While the other team was playing without a goalie, our coach instructed the girls NOT to score until the other goalie was back on the field.
Our coach is a Class-Act!
He taught our team the meaning of fair play and not needing to completely destroy your opponent just to win.
A lesson that will stay with my daughter a lifetime.
