Sorority Consultants
Who knew?
I guess if you are applying to a sorority at the University of Georgia (rush week is in August), you need to have someone tell you it’s a lousy time to wear makeup.
According to one consultant, “You need to do it in a way that’s appropriate in southern humidity or else you’re going to have orange rivers running down your face,”
Just the fact that a woman needs another woman to tell you the obvious pitfalls of combining makeup and humidity makes me wonder about their qualifications to get into college.
Doc Martens or Espadrilles
Evidently, showing up in Dr. Martens combat boots might not be putting your best foot forward in some sorority circles. Especially if everybody else is wearing espadrilles.
And lest ye think this is a joke (and boy-o-boy am I thinking of a few right now), sorority consultants are BIG business.
A menu from one consists of:
- A $600 seminar about the basics of getting into a sorority
- a la carte sessions that cost $150 for video calls and $175 for in-person meetings
- Bid Day Bundle for $1,000. That includes three one-on-one sessions and assistance writing résumés and cover letters, as well as styling tips
- The $2,000 Fabulous and Chic package provides four sessions on applications, social media and wardrobe, along with ’round-the-clock counseling during rush week
- $3,500 buys unlimited access to sorority mentors
- $4,000 for on-call service during rush
As my Alliance mastermind member and financial advisor Leonard Raskin (Raskin Global) always exclaims “Just when I think I have heard it all about making money, I hear of a new one from you“
What’s this got to do with your business?
There are people out there willing to spend big bucks to solve THEIR most pressing, most vexing problem. And yes, for some, getting into the Barbie Dreamhouse Sisterhood is the biggest problem in THEIR world.
Do not simply glance over the the previous two sentences.
To these ladies, getting into the clubhouse IS the biggest problem in their world. Not the climate, not a war, not famine, not politics.
