Can you ignore a million duckets?
Yesterday I showed you some simple math, that demonstrated how a focus on just 3-4 seemingly inconsequential sales tactics could put a million bucks in your pocket. In case you missed it, here you go: https://www.deliverservicenow.com/the-one-and-done-mentality/
If you have been around me for even just a few short weeks, you know that I reveal how Disney creates the magic (and the ka-ching). Case in point, Disney’s newest ship getting ready to hit the high seas….
The newest member of the Disney Cruise Line fleet is fitted with two-story Sleeping Beauty-themed suites and the first-of-its-kind funnel suite–the Wish Tower Suite. It’s located inside one of the ship’s funnels! It can sleep up to 8 Guests on two stories, offers Guests nearly 2,000 square feet of living space, and has 4 1/2 bathrooms! For a mere $65,000
OK, so that is a GINORMOUS detail.
Let’s look at some apparently trivial sales tactics Disney uses, that you can adapt to your business (and you don’t need a cruise ship to do it)
- Bounce Back Offer: On the last night of your stay at a Disney resort, they will leave a postcard inviting you to book you next vacation and give you a nice discount and deadline (usually before you check out)
- Apples To Oranges: There are no Gummy Bears at Disney. Only Goofy Gummies. The bears cost what, 2 bucks at the 7-11? But since you can’t buy Goofy Gummies anywhere else in the world, Disney can charge $7.95 per ounce.
- Impulse Buys: At every cash register at Disney there are little trinkets to be bought, a pin, chocolate bar, hand sanitizer. Each probably under 5 bucks, but has significant impact on the bottom line. (perfect example of my numbers exercise)
- The Kiss Goodnight: This harkens back to Walt’s time. Why do you think they have a fireworks show (actually, “fireworks” does not do the experience justice)? First, to get people to stay in the parks long after they were ready to leave. Of course spending more money. And second, to send every guest off feeling good. Even if they waited an eternity to see Elsa with a screaming child, the fireworks extravaganza puts them right back in a great mood.
What other ways do you / can you wholly and entirely squeeze as much money from you client on each and every visit?
What is your “good night kiss”?
