A little over 12 years ago, I got introduced to direct marketing at a seminar by Joe Polish. I immediately started implementing and began my quest for new information and ideas that has never stopped.
Joe led me to Dan Kennedy who led me to Dave Dee who led me to Brian Kurtz who led me to Ken McCarthy who led me to Ben Settle. And these are just the mentors and coaches who are alive!
Add to the mix Jim Rohn, Napoleon Hill, Walt Disney, Chet Holmes, Zig Ziglar, Steve Jobs and at least a hundred other long since departed masters, I have had the education of a lifetime.
In fact every year, I find myself spending more and more on my education through live events, coaching programs, books, mastermind groups, courses and periodicals. Each year it is the highest payoff investment I make.
Better than stocks or real estate.
To continue to be successful, I need to continually sharpen my skills, associate with other like-minded people and DIS-associate with those who would bring me down.
My journey is not unusual. I have never seen a superstar in any sport or profession who wasn’t relentlessly molded by a coach for their ENTIRE career.
Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, John Travolta, Julia Roberts and Peyton Manning all have coaches.
Dan Kennedy, Dave Dee, Ben Settle, Joe Polish and Ken McCarthy all have coaches.
Regardless of skills and talent you may possess, achieving success all alone is a grinding, almost hopeless uphill battle.
Without a coach I would still be cleaning carpet.
Not managing the business, but actually cleaning the carpet and sniffing out poodle piddle for a few bucks here and there.
