Did you know that answering your phone can increase your revenue?
If you answered, "well, no shyt Vance" then you win the prize!
I am feeling about as cantankerous as Donald Duck this morning, can you tell?
What got me irascible and irritable so early in the morning?
Some idiot, who calls himself the CEO of a "digital marketing agency" in Baltimore, sent me a connection request on LinkedIn. He added the note...
Did you know that digital marketing can transform your business and significantly increase your revenue?
My initial response was probably the same as yours.... NO SHYT! My actual response is below.
He also included a link to an article on his website entitled "What does a digital marketing agency do?"
Said article had a stock image he grabbed from one of those sites that sells cheesy stock images. The article was laid out in big clunky paragraphs, which I was NEVER going to read.
What does this have to do with your business?
- First and foremost, do not ask people, prospects, clients or ANYONE a question where the immediate answer is "NO SHYT". If someone could answer 'well no shyt', change the question.
- Don't intentionally or unintentionally make your prospect feel like an idiot by send a link to an article titled "What do I do". Since I am "in the business of marketing" I would not read it because I already know what they do. If I had no idea what a digital marketer did, reading the clunky article would confuse me more.
- A confused prospect never buys
- If you insist on 'connecting' to prospects on LI, read their profile BEFORE you send the request.
- Don't be lazy, get a real picture of you, your team, anything but the staged and purchased image.
My response to this doofus?
Did you bother to look at what I actually do for a living (marketing) before you asked that question? You may have well asked me "did you know that answering your phone can increase your revenue?" Sheesh!
I am going to the kitchen for another cup of coffee... Here's to hoping that improves my mood.
Enjoy the weekend
