P.S. In the grand hierarchy of the business world, business owners wallow at the bottom of the food chain, while entrepreneurs thrive at the top. Further defined:
BUSINESS OWNER: In the basement (lowest) are business owners. Essentially, these are people who own a business to give themselves a ‘job‘ without need of a boss. They are the carpet cleaners, mechanics and hair stylists who have gone out on their own, but continue to ‘work’ and behave like… well… a worker.
SMALL BUSINESS OWNER (SBO): This is the mid-level of the business world. SBO’s have bigger plans for themselves and their business than a mere BO. They may have employees and have removed themselves from the “doing” of the work. SBO’s may focus on managing and marketing. But the SBO’s mindset is limited to what is in front of them. If you ask a SBO of a carpet cleaning business what they do, they will say “I own a carpet cleaning biz”. That answer does not / will not change over the next 2, 5, 10 years.
ENTREPRENEUR: This is the tippy-top of the business food chain. The most profitable. The most liberating. The most amount of autonomy. They may own a carpet cleaning business, but when asked what they do, the answer is along the lines of “…I am in the home service industry….” They may own, a mold remediation company, a mosquito elimination company and an airduct cleaning business. Entrepreneurs have an EXPANSIVE mindset. not looking out for OPPORTUNITY, but ACTIVELY seeking it out.
