I have Vikings Disease – Ladies, you may be offended

Stay with me a second… I promise to make a point here that will impact your business.

I just got home from the orthopedic surgeon.

You see, for the past few years I have had little nodules growing on the tendons of both ring fingers.

It doesn’t hurt, but I wanted to make sure it wasn’t something serious.

I called my Doc last month to have him look at it. He said come in tomorrow.

He took one look at my hand, threw his hand up in the air and said “I have no idea what that is“. He promptly referred my to the orthopedic surgeon.

The first appoint available was today, about 30 days in the future.

The surgeon took one look at my hand and said “You have Vikings Disease, your doc should have known that”.

Viking disease is a condition in which one or more fingers become permanently bent in a flexed position.

It can also affect men’s.. ahem… wanker. (Yes, I know, very juvenile) Yes, your wanker could be permanently bent one way or the other. Reminds me a limerick.. There once was a man from Kent…

To be clear, mine is not bent, just a few bumps on my hand.

I guess I should get to that business lesson now…

What does my Vikings Disease have to do with your business?

EVERYTHING!

The more you specialize, the higher your income and greater autonomy.

My regular doc hit me for $160 and saw me almost immediately.

The surgeon had a wait of 30 days and hit me for $580. It was a 15 minute visit.

And the surgeon did not discount his price just because it was a short visit.

In the pricing game, this is known as “Place Strategy”.

Where you sell, who you sell to and what you call your product or service, all contribute to your profitability.
