Ladies and …nope, Boys and … nope

********BREAKING NEWS********* Disney Removes ”Ladies & Gentlemen, Boys & Girls” From Happily Ever After fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom. As I have previously shared, Disney has slowly been making changes to ensure their new fifth key, “Inclusion” is fulfilled. This change to add the fifth key to the original “Four Keys” began with the Cast Member “Disney Look” changes to allow for inclusion. Disney's 5 keys are now, in order of importance:
  • Safety
  • Courtesy
  • Inclusion
  • Show
  • Efficiency
At least the announcer before the fireworks did not say "insert gender here", and instead just said "Dreamers of all ages" Notice where Disney placed inclusion. They believe so firmly in this new tenant that it is more important than "show" and "efficiency". Now before you get your bloomers in an uproar over this, I don't think Walt would have minded, and may have lead the charge for the change. Though I also think he would have been adamant about maintaining the integrity of his movies (Song of the South) Walt had this uncanny knack for knowing what the American public wanted, before they ever knew they wanted it.
  • Full length animated movies? Everyone laughed at Walt and said you will go broke... Then along came Snow White & The 7 Dwarfs.
  • Theme parks with just one entrance and exit? That is not how it is done, Walt. Disneyland proved the naysayers wrong and single entrance parks are now the gold standard.
  • $9 hotdogs? They sell 'em by the truck load
I think the "uncanny knack" has stayed at Disney, even after his death. What's this got to do with your business? Pretty much EVERYTHING! Do you have standards? Are they immovable? Written on stone tablets. You must stand for something, otherwise you become a commodity and become just one more business in the unwashed masses of businesses... Invisible One of the standards of my carpet business is 'integrity'. Trust me, this is a big deal! Carpet cleaners are not known for their integrity. Many cleaners would rob 90 year old Mrs. McGillecutty by offering, no insisting, on extra services that she does not need. My team know this: Assess/Inspect the home. Offer solutions to fix the problem. Let the client decide. What are your standards? Reply to this email and let me know. Ya might win a prize!
Remember, you won't profit unless you implement, Vance "I have to re-do all my presentations, books and videos to include inclusivity" Morris
