Well it would appear that Mickey Mouse has grown himself a pair.
Or should I say, its CEO, Bob Iger, has.
Ever since the former idiot CEO Bob Chapek, got involved in a tussle with the Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis over a new law (the nicknamed ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Law) , the company has become a punching bag for DeSantis.
I am not going to get into the politics of said law, and since I don’t live in Florida, I am not going to worry about it for now.
In response do Chapek’s comments, DeSantis called Disney a “woke corporation” that is out of step with the concerns of Florida parents. He announced a special session legislature to strip Disney of the power to effectively govern the special tax district that includes Walt Disney World, known as Reedy Creek.
Reedy Creek is the ONLY Government in the WORLD that actually works as it should. Case in point…

Nope
It’s ’cause the government is run like a business, not a slothful behemoth.
In February, the governor appointed a new board to oversee the land.
Then, before that board took over, Disney circumvented some of the moves by locking in land-use approvals for 30 years that will allow the company to expand its theme parks and hotels without relying on the newly appointed board for permissions.
Take that DeSantis!
Iger said Disney plans to invest about $17 billion in Walt Disney World over the next decade, and that those investments will create 13,000 new direct jobs and thousands of new indirect jobs. Those investments will attract more visitors to central Florida and increase the state’s annual tax revenue.
Oh, and Disney is the largest taxpayer in the entire state.
If the State of Florida is allowed to manage the Disney property, it won’t be long before the infrastructure starts to fail, potholes appear, landscaping becomes over grown and emergency services slows down.
Right now, the average time for an ambulance to show up in Florida is 7 and a half minutes.
Reedy Creek’s is 3 minutes.
Next, Iger threw this little bomb: “Any action that thwarts those efforts, simply to retaliate for a position the company took, sounds not just antibusiness, but it sounds anti-Florida,” Mr. Iger said.
DeSantis said, “Disney is again fighting to keep its special corporate benefits and dodge Florida law. We are not going to let that happen.”
If Florida is trying to take over, I say Dodge baby, Dodge.
