When I worked at Disney, we had code words for everything. I mean we couldn't have guests overhearing our conversations about cleaning up some of the yuckier bodily functions.
That would certainly ruin the magic. For instance:
- Code Brown: Vomit Clean-up
- Code U: Urine clean-up
- Code HOOVER....
I want to share a little insider information with you about some of the raving fans (lunatics) at Disney. You see, there are guests who love the park so much that they want to stay forever...literally.
Now, I'm not talking about the die-hard fans who come back year after year for their favorite rides and attractions.
No, no.
I'm talking about the ones who want to scatter the ashes of their loved ones throughout the park.
Yes, you read that right.
Many families are spreading the ashes of their deceased relatives in the parks. Now, I don't know about you, but I don't think that's quite what Walt had in mind when he created Disneyland.
But hey, to each their own, right? As long as they're still raving fans of Disney, they should be welcomed with open arms (and plenty of hand sanitizer). Right?
So when we caught or suspected a guest of spreading their loved ones ashes, we got on our radio's and called a...
CODE HOOVER
Then as managers, we would have to ride the attraction looking for little piles of ashes, whip out our HEPA Suck-O-Matic, clean up and deposit grandma unceremoniously in a trash can.
Sadly, the dearly departed's ashes would not reside for all eternity with Jack Sparrow or Peter Pan.
They would reside inside a Hoover Vacuum cleaner bag.
