I just got back to my hotel from Beamish, the Living Museum of the North.
This outdoor wonderland is just like England at Epcot at Walt Disney World except:
This is a real town with real buildings and real people working.
So really nothing like England at Epcot.
The have a VERY real Sweet Shop called Jubilee Confectioners where they made the VERY real candy using methods and equipment from the early 1900's.
Thank goodness this was a walking tour...
After the candy, came one of the best delicacies of Northern England.
Battered Sausage and Chips
Yep... You guessed it. They batter a sausage (just like fish) and deep fry it in... are you ready for this...
Beef drippings
OMG!!!!
It was a flavor party inside my mouth.
Epicurean teaching for today: Dripping is an animal fat produced from the fatty or otherwise unusable parts of cow carcasses. It is similar to lard, tallow and schmaltz.
Even the chips (fries) were fried in the beef drippings
Oh the flavor....
Evidently, they rotate their menu throughout the year as well as their events and festivals.
Kinda like Epcot with its Art Festival, Food & Wine Festival, etc.
What does Deep Fried Sausage and Schmaltz have to do with your business?
