The Whopper and Disney’s New Windowless Hotel for $3,300 per person

I have a client who is a photographer and he specializes in family portraits.

He has a wide range of packages and pricing.

On the low end he has an 8*14 inch portrait for just $147. But here is the rub, the picture is too big to sit on a table or mantle, and too small to be hung on a wall. This product naturally drives clients to a higher priced portrait.

On the high end, he has the Whopper (as he likes to call it). A ginormous portrait that barley fits on the side of an airplane hanger; for the low, low price of $11,000.

Now, he does not expect to sell many Whoppers. It is there to give the rest of his pricing context. And when someone does buy the Whopper, he raises its price by a thousand bucks.

Staying in Disney’s new Star Wars hotel, The Halcyon, connected to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the ultimate “Take all of my money, Disney!” concept.

According to Disney, “This groundbreaking experience is unlike any resort experience you’ve ever seen. From the moment you board your launch pod, it’s a fully-immersive, multi-day Star Wars adventure aboard a luxury starship complete with high-end dining, space-view cabins and all of the exciting action you would expect from an authentic Star Wars experience.”

A luxury starship that doesn’t go anywhere and has no windows. Though you do get a TV screen that has the illusion of being a window where you can see galaxies and starship battles whizzing by.

You see, once you are in the ship/hotel, you don’t see the outside world for 2.5 days and 2 nights.

Think of it like an all-inclusive cruise (that never leaves port). You must take the full cruise, you can’t stay for just one night.

All for the low, low price of $3,300 per person. In a standard cabin of course. Pricing for the Captain’s Quarters and First Class Cabins has not been announced.

Disney is consistently and constantly pushing the boundaries of price.

And so should you.

Do you have a Whopper in your business? A package or service with a price so high that it makes all your other prices look reasonable?

Do you have an “everything but the kitchen sink” package?

With the holiday’s coming up, now would be a good time to have a Whopper of your own.
