Here’s a very simple copywriting test:
Put only your first sentence on a page. Looking at that and that only, would you go on to the next page to find the next sentence?
Or try this one: if you received the letter with nothing but the first sentence and all the other pages apparently, accidentally omitted from your letter, would you chase down the sender to get the rest?
As marketers, we spend a lot of time and energy working in environments where all circumstances conspire against grabbing the attention of the prospects. Making sure you make a massive IMPACT right from the get go is critically important.
Of course, knowing how to finagle and fine tune language as a copywriter is a critical skill you either want to develop or hire. And another angle you absolutely need to consider is to use some kind of COMPELLING device to capture immediate interest.
Ideas include:
- Some kind of crazy photo of you – with a nutty hat, wearing a straitjacket, in handcuffs, whatever.
- A message sent inside a bottle – as if from some far-off castaway.
- Handwritten letters on yellow pad paper in crayon, just like it came from a child.
You get the idea. You’re only limited by your creativity. The goal is to get noticed right from the start and be interesting enough to lead the prospect to want desperately to read on and find out more.
The subject of Compelling Advertising is my focus this month for the Mouster Class.
While this is not a copy writing course, I will be covering the psychology of why this type of advertising works, no matter how sophisticated you think your clients are.
This type of advertising, almost 100% of the time, gets your message opened and at least the headline read.
I will be covering:
- The three flaws of most small business advertising
- The 4 reasons compelling marketing works
- How to be inappropriate and grow rich (Sorry Napoleon I couldn’t resist.)
- 5 Profitable Reasons To Be Inappropriate So You Can Grow Rich
- Step by step blueprint to create your own Compelling Marketing, with dozens of examples
And much much more….
But don’t dilly dally, this months Mouster Class goes into the DSNi vault at midnight on 10/31/21.
